All alpacas are registered, microchipped and have excellent genetics with true confirmation.
Alpacas are herd animals and require the companionship of at least three animals. Females and intact males will need to be kept seperate for selective breeding.
Alpacas are great for 4H, breeding, and for fiber arts.
Alpaca manure is great natural fertilizer.
Our alpacas are like our family. The following information is being made available to those who may be interested in purchasing our alpacas:
- You should have at least a 5 acre parcel of land. Fencing where the alpacas are kept should be at least 6 feet tall.
- You should have some sort of shelter from the elements.
- You will need an agricultural well in areas where water rights are limited (like Colorado). Alpacas require access to fresh water daily.
- Alpacas eat brome orchard hay -- although alfalfa is a great treat for female alpacas, males cannot be fed alfalfa hay.
- Alpacas need to be sheared every year, similar to sheep. Alpaca fleece is a very sought after commodity and is part of their value.
- You should have a livestock trailer that allows the alpacas to cush during transport. Alpacas cannot be transported tied.
